Midland/Odessa learns about Nuclear Energy at the CEED
August 21, 2008 (MDO) - UTPB educates YPE Midland/Odessa in the MDO YPE's first speaker series. Dr. James Wright informed the group as to the benefits of nuclear energy. Dr. Watts and Professor Ladd gave us valuable information about what UTPB has to offer and specifically about the new Energy Management Course that is being offered. We encourage as many people as possible to get involved in the dialogue early to help create the best YPE possible in each of these three cities. Midland/Odessa Beat the Heat Event August, 2008 (MDO) - YPE Midland/Odessa hosts a joint event with other young professional groups in the area at the 1st Annual Beat the Heat Event for the Young Associates in the Permian Area. Collectively, we raised $2,000 for a deserving student at the University of Texas at the Permian Basin.
The Young Associates of Midland & Odessa Scholarship will go to a full-time student enrolled at UTPB who has earned 60 or more credit hours and has a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above, and is working at least part-time while attending school.
Our event had over 150 attendees and we would like to thank our sponsors: Exterran, Community National Bank and SouthTex Treaters; as well as MacLondon Royalties, Todd Barron Thomason & Hudman PC, Permian Court Reporters and Brockett & McNeel, LLP. YPE NYC will be hosting an evening with Theodore Roosevelt IV at the New York City Harvard Club. In Houston, Matt Simmons will be headlining YPE's 2008 Senior Leadership Reception. We are ecstatic about delivering such noteworthy figures to our members. Both Messrs. Roosevelt and Simmons are at the forefront of issues facing the energy industry globally. We are humbled that each has chosen to include us in the conversation. Stay tuned for more details! March, 2008 (MIDO) – Concho Resources sponsored an incredibly successful event on March 27, 2008. Midland/Odessa Re-Launch February, 2008 (MIDO) – YPE announces its re-launch of the Midland/Odessa Chapter. Leah Rudnicki will be leading the MDO effort. Nov 29, 2007 - Today YPE launched its tenth chapter worldwide in Austin, TX. Support for a chapter has grown significantly in the past year as independent producers are continuing to open offices in Austin. Code Williams, a landman for Jones Energy will be leading the effort. Boston Chapter Launch October 2007 - This month YPE expanded to Boston, MA. The Boston chapter is a unique opportunity to promote idea transfer between the traditional oil, gas and power portion of the energy industry with the rapidly growing and increasingly important alternative energy community. Our Boston membership base is composed primarily of alternative energy professionals, business school students and energy industry consultants.
Inaugural YPE Golf Tournament
October 20, 2008 - Today YPE held its first golf tournament in Houston. An outstanding 26 teams participated, representing 64 firms in the industry. The weather was perfect, and a team of Exxon engineers took home first prize. Not only was the event a great opportunity to unwind and enjoy a Saturday, it raised awareness for both YPE and the event sponsor Kinder Morgan. In addition, proceeds from the event were given to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Houston. BP Solar Tour
September 2007 - This month our Washington, DC chapter toured BP’s Frederick, Maryland solar energy plant, headquarters for BP Solar product development, technology, sales & marketing, and manufacturing. This event furthered YPE’s goal to expose members to every facet of the energy industry. YPE Ski Trip
February 2007 - This month our Calgary chapter hosted an organization-wide ski trip to Whitefish, Montana. Participants enjoyed mild weather, fantastic snow conditions, and were able to take in the local culture. The trip was a great success, it was a fun weekend at Big Mountain Resort providing the ultimate networking experience. New York City Cocktail Event

The University of Texas McCombs School of Business recently announced the launch of the Energy Finance Certificate (EFC) Program in Houston. YPE has been granted a special offer from the school that allows YPE members to receive a 10% discount for the program. YPE Houston Speaker Series Event
November 29th, 2007 - Today YPE Houston and the Petroleum Club of Houston co-hosted a speaker series cocktail event. The special guest was Richard Loomis, President and CEO of World Energy.
